Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter No. 158 dated the 26th ultimo on the subject of the Cryay mind of engineers for the Canton Hankow Railway and to inform you that I am in communication with Mr. W. R. Hemingway with regard to the particulars by Mr. Smyth of the qualifications considered requisite for an holder of the appointment of Assistant Traffic Examiner to the Railway.
2. I take this opportunity of enclosing for your information copies of the issues of the "Chung Hoi San Po" for the 19th and 23rd ultimo, together with translations of extracts from these papers referring to the appointment in question.
